Introduction.

A large number of Network Rail's signalling records have been produced using the Bentley Microstation CAD package and the master records are stored in that format.

Until recently all records were stored in Microstation 7 format, however Microstation version 8 is now the standard for new records and all standard cell libraries, templates, etc. will be produced in the later version.

As with many computer packages, Version 8 has the capability to read and convert Version 7 files. Whilst the conversion is 95% accurate, it is known that sometimes data is lost or mis-aligned on the converted drawings.
