Introduction
A track circuit interrupter (TCI) is provided to either detect an intentionally derailed vehicle (at trap points) or to detect that a sliding buffer stop has been displaced sufficiently to become ineffective.
One key element of a TCI is that it detects a vehicle immediately before it is derailed and cannot be restored without replacement, hence it satisfies the requirement in GK/RT0011 that "the track section is maintained in an occupied state following derailment of a vehicle".
