Introduction

Clogged ballast and blocked drains This Track Work Instruction sets out guidelines by which you will be able to recommend an appropriate ‘condition of track’ (COT) speed restriction.

COT speed restrictions may be applied to reduce the risk of a derailment. They may also be used to extend the life of track and components, pending renewal, thus easing maintenance and will mitigate damage in the event of a derailment.
