This Standard establishes a consistent approach to the evaluation and determination of environmentally
preferable and sustainable chemical product manufacturing processes, water treatment chemical
products, distributors, repackagers, and relabelers of chemical products. Many of these water treatment
chemical products are used for public health protection. The document includes relevant criteria across
the product(s) life cycle from raw material extraction through manufacturing, use, and end-of-life
management. The intended use of this Standard is to show that the product, manufacturing processes,
distribution, repackaging/relabeling, and corporate practices of a water treatment chemical product
manufacturer are more sustainable.
