Among the APTS data interchange needs is the ability to transfer information about the location of transit objects. A spatial reference represents the location of fixed and mobile objects. The Spatial Representation (SP) business area provides other transit business areas with a vocabulary and formats for representing common attributes for referencing objects in space. For example, a route is generally identified by both a route identifier and its physical representation. A route pattern may be represented by a sequence of timepoints, nodes and links, or by a series of intersections.
