The efficiency of a gas turbine which is published in manufacturer’s catalogue for a specific model only corresponds to the gas turbine engine and is referenced for ISO conditions. But in fact, gas turbine engines do not autonomously exist without some auxiliary systems which are essential for their operation. Furthermore, gas turbines run at site conditions which seldom match with the ISO conditions. Accordingly, the effects of auxiliary systems, in addition to operating and ambient conditions, shall be accounted for when determining the real efficiency of a gas turbine as a system. This paper provides an overview on all the factors; and their sensitivities, that impact gas turbine “system” efficiency, necessary for performing comprehensive and factual assessment when evaluating technical alternatives and estimating total cost of ownership. Part-1 of this paper covered the de-rating factors, while in this part-2 further important factors are elaborated.
