2898 (RP-359) -- Characterization of Zone Dynamic Response for CLF/CLTD Tables PDF

ASHRAE research project RP-359 had as its principal objective the revision of the cooling load temperature differences (CLTDs) and cooling load factors (CLFS) in the cooling load chapter of the ASHRAE Handbook—Fundamentals (HOF). The first part of RP-359 determined appropriate representativee zones and weighting factors for calculation of the CLTDs and CLFs. This paper presents the methodology employed in that determination. Zones of varying geometry and construction were considered and graphical, statistical, and pattern recognition techniques were used to characterize these zones in terms of their dynamic response. A companion paper presents the results of the effort.
