An experimental study of finned tubes has resulted in a correlation that predicts the contact conductance of the coils. The correlation is supported by the basic theory and is based upon coil parameters readily available to the interested engineer. The correlation is also compared to previous efforts concerning the subject. It is determined that the method of prediction is accurate within the limits imposed by heat exchanger assembly.
