3143 -- Refrigerant Leakage Heat Pump Reversing Valves Including Comparison to Leakage Measurements PDF

Tests for refrigerant leakage on 35 different valves reported in Damasceno et al. (1986) are presented. These valves are representative of seven different types of reversing valves. The results are compared with air leakage tests simulated on a test stand with a valve either heated or at laboratory ambient conditions. The cold air leakage parameters are unrelated to the refrigernat values. On the other hand, the correlation between the leakage parameters based on the hot valve and the refrigerant tests is barely acceptable.
