A Canadian research institute has developed a steady-state water-to-air heat pump modeling program, SIMPAC, featuring non-azeotropic refrigerant mixture simulation. The Camahan-Starling-Desantis (CSD) equation of state is used in SIMPAC, which is a follow-on development of the HPBI program published by Domanski (1986). This model has been successfully validated for pure refrigerant R22 and mixtures R13B1/R152a and R22/R114. It was then used to predict R22/R23 behavior. This paper provides an overview of the model and its validation.
