A review of published correlations to predict heat transfer and pressure drop performance in smooth and internally finned tubes is presented, emphasising correlations developed using refrigerant data. These correlations are used as a starting point for the development of equations, presented in part two of this paper, to predict the performance of refrigerant-oil mixtures in smooth an internally finned tubes.

KEYWORDS: refrigerants, calculating, finned tubes, tubes, Reynolds numbers, mixtures, oils, heat transfer fluids, pressure drop, heat flow, lubricants.
