A steady-state model of refrigerant flow through a capillary tube is outlined. The model is based on homogeneous flow assumptions for the two-phase flow region. It is found that a metastable (superheated liquid) region has to be accounted for in order to reach good agreement with a rather extensive data set.

KEYWORDS: calculating, steady state, fluid flow, refrigerants, capillary tubes, tubes, R22
