Attempts to derive temperature indices that describe the combined and separate effects of the four thermal environmental variables on the human body. Derives three new indices - corrected humid operative temperature (HOTV), thermal velocity field (TVF) and reduced-effective humid field (RHF) from the heat balance equation for the human body to indicate the combined influence of environmental variables as well as the separate influence of air velocity and humidity. TVF and RHV indicate respectively the net convective energy and evaporative energy exchanged on the exposed body surface of a human-shaped object. The HOTV index consists of the sum of the air temperature plus the effective temperature differences caused by TVF, the effective radiant field and the RHF. States that to verify these indices, experiments were conducted and predictions made based on the two-node model (Gagge et al 1971). Notes that these newly-derived indices were applied successfully to the evaluation of the influence of thermal conditions on the human body.
