A liquid absorbent or hygroscopic solution in a scxubber has the property ofabsorbing mositure from or adding moisture to the air, depending upon thevapor pressure difference between the air and the solution. The equilibriumvapor pressure of the solution is dependent upon the temperature and concentrationof the solution so that the liquid absorbent is capable of eitherdehumidifying or humidifying the air, depending upon the temperature and concentrationof the solution.
