This manual, created in 1988 by ASHRAE in cooperation with Solar Energy Industries Association and ACEC Research and Management Foundation, was prepared as a task in the Department of Energy's Solar in Federal Buildings Program (SFBP) with the advice and assistance of consultants from the solar community. The goal was to create a design manual for large commercial-scale service hot water and space heating solar energy systems to satisfy the specific needs of solar designers for a variety of locations, applications, and system types.
