This course introduction tointroduces recommendations in the latest ASHRAE and AHRI standards, codes, and guidelines with respect to air-to-air energy recovery technology to help determine where and when energy recovery is mandated and why. In addition, the course will also review a variety of important performance metrics to provide realistic measures to help evaluate these devices. Finally, the course will also provide a detailed overview of the most popular commercially available technologies on the market today and explore their construction, psychrometrics, thermodynamic theory of operation, and important operations and maintenance considerations for long life and consistent performance. The advantages of using different technologies and a variety of different applications along with practical advice and concrete examples will be provided throughout.
