It is a long time since the earth has been being used as a temperature moderator against harsh weather. It has shown potential as a passive solution and it can guarantee reduction in energy consumption while provides thermal comfort in buildings. Energy conservation in earth sheltered settlements has gained considerable popularity by researchers. According to numerous research studies that looked at the efficiency of earth-sheltered buildings, construction techniques and economic feasibility for such buildings have been under-emphasized. Using life-cycle cost analysis give more realisitc estimate of the actual cost of the earth-sheltered building. The present study discusses and investigates an algorithm that assesses the cost-effectiveness of earth-sheltered buildings. In order to achieve this goal, we need to understand how to measure the cost of this type of buildings accurately. In this study some criteria such as climate, air temperature, solar radiation, energy cost and etc. have been investigated.
