An experimental procedure and representative results of the measurement of transfer functions of a flame have been presented. Differences in the experimental techniques make it difficult to compare the results presented in this paper with those in earlier publications. However, the most interesting result of the work now presented is the strong dependence shown on flame structure as related to air to fuel ratio. From these data a model for the flame and an expression for its transfer function can be obtained and a stability analysis can be derived.
