Quebec’s largest plumbers’ union, the United Association – Local 144, wanted to relocate to offer its members an innovative facility integrating welcoming and comfortable administrative offices and a high-level industrial training center. To maximize energy efficiency, an Integrated Project Delivery process was carried out. The entire design team, the client, the LEED certification professional and the commissioning agent participated in charrettes which helped integrate many components ultimately generating an eighty-one percent reduction in energy consumption compared to the reference building which was modeled according to ASHRAE 90.1-2016.
