Is BIM software overhyped? According to the author, native BIM load calculations are far from an everyday production tool and still need considerable improvement, both on the input interface and the output presentation side. Using ASHRAE Headquarters in Atlanta as a test case, this article addresses native BIM load calculations only, although lessons learned regarding interoperability and data definition apply to both approaches.
