1. Scope
1.1
This Standard applies to the performance of instrument current and voltage transformers of the types generally used in the measurement of electricity and the protection and control of equipment associated with the generation, transmission, and d istribution of ac electricity.
1.2
This Standard does not apply to electronic devices intended to provide the same function as an instrument transformer.
1.3
Clause 8 of this Standard provides supplementary provi sional requirements for instrument current transformers intended to maintain a given performance at up to several times the rated current when the current has an exponentially decaying dc component.
1.4
Performance requirements for linearized current transformers, i.e., those with large air gaps in the core, are not included in this Standard.
1.5
Specific performance requirements for capacitor-type instrument voltage transformers are not included in this Standard, but are specified in CSA Standard CAN3-C13.1, Capacitor Voltage Transformers.
