A chiller at a medical building in South Burlington, Vt., prompted engineers to devise a solution that fixed the chiller and provide ongoing energy savings. Using a fractional horsepower, magnetically coupled, hybrid refrigerant pump, a VFD, DDC equipment, programming changes, and other safety devices, data showed that the post-retrofit chiller consumed an average of 267.50 kWh per day, with an average savings of 15.46 kW.
