This paper reports on ASHRAE Research Project RP-123 which was conducted by Arthur D. Little,Inc., under the direction of ASHRAE Technical Committee TC 5.4. The objective of RP-123 wasto identify a simple, reproducible method for measuring the size distribution of fine solidparticles in industrial gas streams. Such measurements are needed to determine the fractionalefficiency of particulate gas c1eaning equipment.
