This paper is based on findings resulting from ASHRAE Research Project RP-1583.

The objective of this study is to critically evaluate test methods for determining burning velocity (Su ), which is used as the index of the lowest flammable refrigerant class (subclass 2L). The target refrigerants were mildly flammable R-32 and R-32/134a (60/40 wt%) mixture. In this paper we evaluate the closed-vessel method to determine its precision and capability.
