Current building trends have resulted in an increase in the number and severity of low-frequency noise problems at frequencies of 250 Hz and below. ASHRAE is sponsoring a research project with a view to determining an improved descriptor for low-frequency noise evaluation. Various considerations in the rating/assessment of low-frequency noise are presented including the issues of spectrum balance and noise level fluctuation.
