New research on lighting (sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy) has concluded that the lumen ratings do not tell the entire story for determining energy effi ciency. The low color temperature and low color rendering properties of high-pressure sodium lighting actually result in less ‘visually effective’ lighting.
