Most Micro-CHP systems consist of a prime mover, power generation/power conditioning system, heat recovery device, and controls. Some systems include energy storage. The prime mover converts fuel to mechanical energy or directly to electrical energy and, in the process, also produces thermal energy that the heat recovery device recovers to meet space and water heating demands.
