This guide was created in 1990 by ASHRAE in cooperation with Solar Energy Industries Association and developed by the Energy Technology Engineering Center (ETEC), Rockwell International, as a task in the Department of Energy's Solar in Federal Buildings Program (SFBP). The purpose of the manual is to assist the designer of large active solar heating systems in the preparation of an O&M manual specific to the system being designed. This guide describes procedures that represent a comprehensive coverage of the major elements in operating and maintaining solar energy systems.
