Art museums often require strict control of indoor air temperature and humidity, which, in many cases, is satisfied by installing full air-conditioning systems with high airflow rates. This paper presents an art museum where the space heating and cooling is done by a hydronic system with pipes embedded in the building structure. In addition, two-zone displacement ventilation provides a minimum of outside air.
Architectural considerations and design of the HVAC system are explained in detail. The building has been in operation for a couple of years. The results of temperature and humidity measurements are presented here together with experiences of operation.
