Maintaining methods of safe egress from a building during a fire emergency is a significant concern in very tall buildings. This paper will examine one possible approach to enhancing the egress potential and assisting in the evacuation of the physically impaired by preserving the usefulness of elevators. This method is experimental and any attempt to design a similar system should be approached with caution.
