This paper discusses a study that was conducted to determine the impact of different ventilation rates on office building energy use, first cost, and peak electrical demand. Also studied was the effectiveness of a variety of design strategies for mitigating the impacts. The study was conducted by simulating with the DOE-2.1 computer program an energy-efficient office building in five cities.
