This paper discusses the genesis of the GRITS model in the context of the information needs at the start of the study and the development of subsequent knowledge about the previously little-known eastern geothermal resource. Further refinement of the model and its use in early parameter sensitivity studies and preliminary project evaluations were traced as more information about the resource and potential applications become available.
