In order to realize the automation of optical fibre handover in the communication room and improve the capability of optical distribution frame (ODF) on-site smart maintenance, this Recommendation specifies the ODF on-site smart maintenance architecture and the functional requirements of ODF smart maintenance. The following aspects are within the scope of this Recommendation: ODF on-site smart maintenance architecture, and the functional requirements of smart handover units (SHUs), ODF smart maintenance systems (OSMSs) and the interface between the SHU and OSMS.

This Recommendation is applicable to the construction of ODF on-site smart maintenance architecture, as well as the design, research and development, deployment and application of SHUs and OSMSs.
