As the number of firms providing computerized Building Automation Systems (BAS) increases, so does the need to integrate these systems into a single interoperable BAS. The last several years has seen several very significant advances in the technology of interoperability. BACnet® and LonTalk® protocols offer useful tools for interoperability as well as interchangeability and integration. Other devices offer Internet con- nection and the use of standard web browser graphical interfaces. Systems using these tools are being installed across the country.
