This paper describes the development and testing of a self-tuning digital controller for heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems. The controller uses integral-only control action and self tunes to provide a critically damped system response when given a step input. The algorithm has been implemented and tested on fan static pressure and converter supply water temperature control systems.
