RP-1015 -- Typical Weather Years for International Locations PDF

Accurate estimation of the energy performance of buildings requires knowledge of the weather to which a building is subjected. Typical weather year files are commonly used in many countries as input to building energy simulation software to estimate the average annual energy consumption of buildings.

The project had two objectives:

• to prepare data sets of estimated hourly solar radiation for 200 DATSAV2 sites for the period 1982-1993;
• to generate IWEC files for those 200 locations.

The scope of the project evolved slightly between the time it was initiated and the time it was completed. Specifically, DATSAV2 data for the period 1983-1992 were replaced with a new format (DATSAV3) and a longer period of record (1982-1999 for most stations).
