The objective of this research project is to develop, through experimentation, non-dimensional pressure drop and heat transfer correlations which may be used to predict performance of internally finned tubing through a 5,000 to 1,000,000 Reynolds number range with and without oil for single-phase refrigerants and tubes of commercial interest. Liquid Reynolds numbers as low as 5,000 are required for proper refrigerant thermophysical property determination and to verify the experimental facility across a range of transitional and turbulent Reynolds numbers.
