Air conditioning of industrial plants is not a luxury; it is essential. Man is entitled to an environment reasonably close to that of his home: this requires air conditioning. Air conditioning also reduces energy consumption.
It was felt that the location/design of the supply outlets and return openings and the associated induction of air from the upper part of the room into the lower part was responsible for the disappointing load reduction. Therefore it was felt that (a) a study of the effects that supply outlets and return openings have on temperature stratification, (b) a study of the effects of using radiant cooling panels on the temperature stratification was necessary.
