Low-intensity radiant heating equipment has been installed in thousands of industrial and commercial applications. These systems replace various convective and forced circulation-type heating systems. Data have been gathered on specific installations over a period of years. Particular attention was given to energy use and the corresponding degree-day data.
The energy requirements per degree-day have been calculated for each system. Performance of the original system was then compared to the energy requirements with the low-intensity radiant heating system. The comparison data are presented in tabular form and support the conclusion that low-intensity radiant heating is an energy-efficient, cost-effective method of providing space comfort conditioning in industrial and commercial environments.
