The objectives were clearly expressed: to design an efficient house that would offer occupants an environment with thermal, visual and acoustical comfort, high indoor air quality and energy efficiency, within a defined construction and life-cycle budget. This 2,400 ft

2) net positive house project also had the objective to minimize embodied carbon and be net zero or have net positive energy. The design criteria was not to meet the minimum code performance, but rather to design a house that would be in accordance with the codes at its midlife, which was chosen to be 25 years.
