The team tasked with designing the Materials Design Lab at Argonne National Laboratory created an adaptable building layout and flexible mechanical, electrical, plumbing and technology systems to accommodate current research activities and future needs while meeting all safety requirements. These systems were designed to save and conserve energy where possible, leading to the project’s LEED Gold certification.
