Fundamental Problems of Algorithmic Algebra PDF

INTRODUCTION

This chapter is an orientation on the central problems that concern us. Specifically, we identify three families of "Fundamental Problems" in algorithmic algebra (Sections 0.1-0.3). In the rest of the chapter (Sections 0.10 collects some common mathematical terminology while Section 0.11 introduces computer algebra systems. The reader may prefer to skip Sections 0.4-0.11 on a first reading, and use them only as a references.
