The purpose of this guide is to describe examination and leak testing requirements and recommendations to those designing piping systems to the ASME B31.3 Process Piping Code, hereinafter referred to as the Code.
This Practice addresses examination of materials, components, fabrication, assembly, erection, and records. Extent of examination, criteria for acceptance, and correction of defective work are covered for metallic, metallic lined, and nonmetallic piping. Types of leak tests, how to select, and arrangements for testing piping are also covered.
