This Practice provides data forms and the associated instructions for specifying requirements for cylindrical, atmospheric and low-pressure, welded, shop-fabricated or field-fabricated dry bulk solids bins, hoppers, silos, and gravity blenders with internal design pressures not greater than 103 kPa (15 psig) and/or full vacuum external pressure at the top of the container in its normal operating position. Containers may be welded, shop-fabricated or field-fabricated, and generally in accordance with the philosophy and requirements of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII, Division 1.
This Practice is used with PIP VECBI001 and PIP VESBI002 to specify requirements for the design and fabrication of bulk solids containers.
