This Standard describes requirements for audible warning devices for the following types of Rolling Stock: (a) Locomotives. (b) Self-propelled passenger rolling stock driving vehicles including driving vehicles on a push/pull set. (c) Infrastructure maintenance rolling stock vehicles. The main purpose of the requirements is to ensure that the design is suitable to allow the audible warning device to operate as an effective safety system. Operation of rolling stock in regards to network safe working rules, procedures and route standards is not covered. Rolling stock used on light rail, cane railway and monorail networks are not covered.
