This specification has been declared CANCELLED by the Aerospace materials Division, SAE, as of April 2009, and has been superseded by AMS3138D. The requirements of the latest issue of AMS3138D shall be fulfilled whenever reference is made to the cancelled AMS3138/1B. By this action, this document will remain listed in the Numerical Section of the Index of Aerospace Material Specifications, noting that it has been superseded by AMS3138D.
This specification covers a fluorocarbon (FKM) elastomeric coating material for fiber-reinforced-resin composite structures in the form of a two-component brushable or sprayable liquid.
Primarily as a topcoating over AMS 3138/1, AMS 3138/2, or AMS 3138/3 base coating for protection of aircraft and missile radomes and other components from rain-erosion, aerodynamic heating, static, and weathering.
