This specification covers a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) resin filled with inorganic pigment in the form of extruded or molded rods or tubes which are sintered after molding. The blue colored material is designated for use in rod glands only and the yellow colored material is designated for use in piston glands only. The brown colored material is designated for use in AS5857 rod glands only and the green colored material is designated for use in AS5857 piston glands only.
These products have been used as backup rings in AS4716 Glands for both static and dynamic applications and in AS5857 Glands for static stability up to 450 \mDF (232 \mDC) with good mechanical properties is required, but usage is need not be limited to such applications. Each application should be considered individually.
