THE DISPENSING OF SHEAR SENSITIVE MATERIAL IN AN AUTOMOTIVE APPLICATION PRODUCED WIDELY VARYING VOLUMETRIC ACCURACIES USING TYPICAL METHODS. THIS APPLICATION REQUIRED HIGHLY ACCURATE DISPENSING, VARYING DISPENSE RATES IN A SINGLE PART, AND PROGRAMMABLE VERSATILITY. TYPICAL PRESSURE-REGULATED DISPENSE HEADS PREDICT VOLUMETRIC OUTPUTS ASSUMING A CONSTANT VISCOSITY MATERIAL. THIS APPLICATION USED A SHEAR SENSITIVE MATERIAL WHOSE VISCOSITY CHANGED WITH PRESSURE AS WELL AS TEMPERATURE. THE SOLUTION REQUIRED THE USE OF A NEW DISPENSE HEAD THAT OPERATES ON A SERVO REGULATED VARIABLE DISPLACEMENT PRINCIPAL. THE RESULT WAS A HIGHLY ACCURATE, HIGHLY REPEATABLE DISPENSING SYSTEM THAT MET ALL OF THE APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS REGARDLESS OF MATERIAL VICOSITY.
