This is a review of vacuum furnace brazing considering the mechanics as well as the vacuum brazing equipment capabilities. Discussed are the variety of sizes, shapes and joint configuration that likely exclude other methods of joining. Various cleaning techniques and some caveats are mentioned to avoid unsuccessful brazes. Several braze alloys and their forms are detailed as are some typical partial pressure gases flowing during brazing and, those used for gas quenching. Alloy wetting capability and tolerances are important aspects of vacuum brazing. Coating fixtures with niobium, braze plating and silk screening, are mentioned.
