High production resistance welding introduces the requirement of both quality as well as electrode life on often unmanned welding stations. While welding charts list values of TIP FORCE, the actual application of these values is often not understood or followed. Welding before required force has been reached is quite common on high speed production lines. This paper will explain the relationship between air pressure and electrode force, and also cover the dynamics of weld force creation during a typical weld cycle.
